Research Portfolio/Dossier

Primary research

Sydney Marshall. 2021. Questionnaire Results (original questionnaire link) <https://forms.gle/FXTebwNvF1rT1mBk6>

This is a good example of primary research of my own as I conducted this questionnaire based around getting feedback from a wider audience for my corporate video. This is primary because I made the questions by myself along with gathering the information to therefore create a presentation to show the results and to determine the audience for the video.

Secondary research

Sydney Marshall. 2020. Unilever Rebranding & TV advert analysis <https://sydneymarshalltvandfilm.blogspot.com/2020/02/unilever-rebranding.html & https://sydneymarshalltvandfilm.blogspot.com/2020/01/tv-advert-analysis.html>

This is a good example of secondary research of my own as I was given the tasks to rebrand a Unilever product and to analyse television advert. For my rebranding, I ended up doing Ben and Jerry's and the way this was secondary research was that I was gathering information from the internet rather than using my own information to overall get ideas on what the pre-existing marketing was and this was the same for my TV advert analysis.

Quantitative research

Sydney Marshall. 2021. Questionnaire Results <https://forms.gle/FXTebwNvF1rT1mBk6 (the results of questionnaire: https://sydneymarshalltvandfilm.blogspot.com/2021/01/research-portfoliodossier.html)>

This is a good example of quantitative research of my own as the questionnaire I conducted for my corporate video, and from this I had a mixture of research and Quantitative was included as when the results came back, I got Quantitative data through some of the questions which were presented in both bar chart and line graph form and using numbers and percentages to show off the responses.

Qualitative research

Sydney Marshall. 2021. Questionnaire Results <https://forms.gle/FXTebwNvF1rT1mBk6 (the results of questionnaire: https://sydneymarshalltvandfilm.blogspot.com/2021/01/research-portfoliodossier.html)>

This is a good example of qualitative research of my own as the questionnaire I conducted for my corporate video, and from this I had a mixture of research and Qualitative was included as when the results came back, I got the Qualitative data through the worded responses (from questions like what they liked and disliked about the video as an example), as they gave off detailed responses rather than the other responses which were numerical.

Market/audience research

Sydney Marshall. 2020. Unilever Rebranding & TV advert analysis <https://sydneymarshalltvandfilm.blogspot.com/2020/02/unilever-rebranding.html & https://sydneymarshalltvandfilm.blogspot.com/2020/01/tv-advert-analysis.html>

This is a good example of market/audience research of my own as I was given the tasks to rebrand a Unilever product and to analyse television advert. The way I used it is by researching the demographics for Ben and Jerry's normal audience and researching into other advertisements/brands with a different audience to overall create a rebrand for Ben and Jerry's in my PowerPoint presentation. This was also used in my analysis as I had to research about the brand in order to see if the advertisement I chose was fitting to that demographic.

Production research

Sydney Marshall. 2020. Pre-production paperwork <https://sydneymarshalltvandfilm.blogspot.com/2020/01/pre-production-paperwork.html>

This is a good example of production research of my own as this was the pre-production paperwork for my DEPICT short film project, this counts as production research as this was the research conducted for the project. Areas such as Location Recces and Releases, are good examples for production research as you need to get permission for areas you film in and to see if they will allow any filming within that area, while with recces it's just gives a rough idea of where you want your filming to take place.
