Starlight Brigade (music video)
(video)
Starlight Brigade is a music video released by the band, TWRP featuring Dan Avidan and produced/animated by the Knights of the Light Table. The music video tells the story of the main character, Strive and how become apart of the protectors of the universe, the Starlight Brigade and saves the universe and his own planet from evil, with the story being told by Strive through the lyrics. Within the video, Strive and the entire team are a 80's-ififed anime like version of the band for the music video.
The overall music video is filled with effects to give it the 80's or nostalgic style, the animation is overall simple but complex with the added details (shading, lighting and accessories etc) along with it being smooth with the implement of limited frames so it fits with the anime like style. Background environments within the video are detailed, bright and imaginative which fits with the universe it's in along with the characters and story. This also includes implements of visual effects and 3D models to add to the setting and to add more detail.
The editing for the music video is quite good as it fits well to the feel of the song and the environment shown in the video, close-ups and group shots are also very prominent within the video, these type of shots are to show the characters current expressions and feelings in a slightly dramatic way. The pacing of the video doesn't feel like it's drags itself too long but instead tells a story in a short time without it effecting the quality and pacing of the video.
The music video overall inspired me to persuade my interest within the animation industry as the video was really cool to watch and inspire me to make my own creative concepts and animations just like it. With the inclusion of seeing some posts about the process of creating the entire music video after viewing the video, made me interested with the process and how the development of the video involved so much inspiration from other media (example being Studio Ghibli films to the 80's animated films, both popular and underrated ones) along with the inspiration for the designs of the characters, as using the band as a reference point and building up from there.
